String Orchestra

This course provides an opportunity for students who have reached the necessary degree of maturity in playing a string instrument to perform in a group and as a soloist.
Development of comprehensive musicianship will be emphasized through a wide repertoire of original string orchestra literature, transcriptions, and arrangements.
After school activities and rehearsals are integral to the course.

PVA Orchestra

The PVA Orchestra class is a process-oriented group, which provides an opportunity for students to utilize interactive musical skills in a performing ensemble.
While promoting the advancement of strings music of artistic and historical significance, it reinforces the musical and technical skills taught in class and develops the application of those skills.
This course advances the growth of the student’s overall musicianship and promotes lifelong activity in music. At home practicing to master musical skills is a necessary component of this course.
Small group instruction is provided for students desiring to acquire skill in playing string instruments.
Good tone production, instrumental technique, sight- reading, and basic fundamentals of music are emphasized.
After school activities and rehearsals are integral to the course.

The BHS Chamber Orchestra is an elite, audition-only group of high level musicians.
Chamber Orchestra rehearses during Bruin Blocks and after school.
