Alumni Club!

~~~~~~Up dated Sept 18~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We need the help of all parents to alert past BHS chorus, orchestra, and band students of a new alumni club that will foster communication with other alumni and make connections to participate and help with current BHS Music events and activities.
Send alumni to the BHS Music Alumni Facebook Page or email the new coordinator for these activities, Dave Stephens at StephensD@BrynMawrSchool.org.
~~~~~~Up dated Sept 12~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Greetings to Broadneck Bruin Musicians!

The Broadneck Music Boosters, the parent organization who helps to support all of the music

activities at the high school, has decided to start an alumni group so that we can keep in touch

with all of you, and you can keep in touch with what is going on with marching band,

orchestra, chorus, concert band or wind ensemble, jazz band, and the new percussion

ensemble.

We will launch some activities in the fall of 2011…what might they be?  We are thinking about a

picnic during Homecoming Weekend, with possible musical participation by the alumni

marching band members.  We will also be hosting a “Night of Musical Stars” at the Broadneck

Evangelical Presbyterian Church the Friday night before homecoming, Oct. 28. We want alumni

actively involved in the program (more info to follow).

There may also be some gatherings in the winter and spring when there are concerts and

performances by the chorus, orchestra, or wind ensemble.  The ideas are new and just in the

early planning stages.

Some of you may know that the marching band will be wearing new uniforms. You will love

the new look if you come back to watch the marching band in the fall. The old uniforms are

available for sale, so if any of you are interested in purchasing your uniform or your shako,

contact Matt Heist  (mheist@aacps.org).

The marching band will participate in USSBA competitions in 2011, having left TOB after

2010.  There is a competition at the Naval Academy (Sept. 24) and one at Broadneck (Oct. 8).

Sandy Balderson (Mrs. “B”) has some ideas about new performances, such as a concert to

feature music written by current students to feature their composing talents in January and

coffeehouse events to showcase the talents of area youth.

What can you do to help us launch this new alumni group??

1. Send us your name and graduation year, so we can build a contact list.

2. Tell us what you have been up to since you graduated….what jobs have you had, where

did you go to college, where are you now living, etc.

3. Update us on any musical activities that you have done since you were at Broadneck.

(Do you still play your instrument or sing?  Church choir?  College musical groups?  Do

you teach music? ….)

4. We need a catchy name for the new group.  Any ideas??  (Bruins Grown Up, Bruin

Harmonics, Allegro Bruins, Bruin Encores…)We will post information to share about all of you on the Broadneck Music webpage so that you

guys can be in touch with each other, hear about upcoming activities, and stay in touch with what

the current students at doing at Broadneck.

Please send your information to me at davidstephens@verizon.net or to booster president Laura Tayman:

Be sure and keep up-to-date on the Alumni Facebook page!
